This is our signature flavor and what started this whole company. After making my first batch of bitters and tasting how much better they were than what I was used to, I set about making what I considered the perfect bitters for an Old Fashioned, my favorite cocktail.

These bitters are full of baking spices like ginger, cinnamon, and allspice to bring out the spice in a rye-based whiskey and balanced with an earthy bitterness that will make your drinks more interesting.

Try these recipes:
Old Fashioned Bitter Housewife

Brazelton

Champagne Cocktail

Americano

Meletti Spritz

Cocchi Prosecco Spritz

Sherry Spritz

Susan's Gin Old Fashioned

Second Serve

Goes great with darker spirits like aged rums, bourbon, and whiskey. We also recommend you try them in any recipe that calls for aromatic bitters or Angostura.

Ingredients:

Alcohol, water, organic sugar, dried bing cherries, fresh ginger, cinnamon,  nutmeg, vanilla extract (water, alcohol (35%), sugar, vanilla extractives), quassia, walnut leaf, wild cherry bark, sarsaparilla, grains of paradise, allspice, cassia, gentian, cloves.

I love this brand

These are my standard "go to" bitters. Did you know that mixologists often use two types of bitters in every drink? Makes everything more complex.

Perfect addition

This has quickly become my go-to, both for whiskey & soda, and for straight soda. It adds a nice body and sweetness, with a complex flavour that features the cherry and sarsaparilla. In fact, it's so good that I frequently forgo the whiskey entirely :)

Can there be a "bitter winner"?

We all know there are bitter losers, but a bitter winner? Lets see what The Bitter Housewife Old Fashioned Bitters has that others don't. I have been drinking bitters and soda (sometimes in whiskey ;) for 35 years. Although I am not considered a specialist or bitter archeologist, I believe I know what I like. I just received my bottle (great packaging by the way) from The Bitter Housewife and did a comp between the 3 brands I currently have on hand. The taste battle included Fee Brothers, Angostura, and Hella (all aromatic/old fashioned flavors). I am not able to upload a photo so you'll just have to imagine the four bottles side by side all vying for the best of the bitters....it was intense, some laughed and some cried, friendships were forged, even some enemies declared, but in the end The Bitter Housewife Old Fashioned Bitters arose triumphant. Thanks for taking this journey with me and yes, Virginia, there is a "bitter winner". Ksee
